As a painter, Alexander Technique teacher, and Craniosacral practitioner my body awareness practices and art practice run parallel, they have an inspired exchange. It’s through this conversation that these works have evolved.
I make ephemeral, movement drawings in abandoned or temporary spaces. Each piece is made up of a time lapse video, an ephemeral drawing or drawing location photo. The drawings record my body sensations/thoughts/memories, through accumulated and erased marks which work as a measure of time. The drawings help me process and move through my life experiences. They allow me to transform energy, and they allow me to trust that something in me knows where I am going before I do.
As the drawings are made areas are erased. Drawing while erasing with my body connects me to how the healing process can occur in the body. Traumas or experiences have layers to them and as sensation falls away, something underlying reveals itself or the energy transforms into something new.
